Here is a date for you to mark down on your calendar – March 11, 2016! That’s the date that 3 Doors Down releases their next CD – “Us And The Night” and you are not going to want to miss it. In fact, perhaps you should just go pre-order it before you finish reading this review. It’s ok, I’ll wait.
After listening to this CD three times, I can’t find a song I don’t like on it. Most are upbeat and make you want to move, even if it’s just tapping your foot and moving your shoulders a bit, you know what I mean. I’m sure you’ve done it. Actually, I’m listening to “The Broken” as I type this and I’m shoulder dancing as I type. It’s that good.
This CD is diverse and yet not, it’s really hard to explain! At times I felt like I was listening to the music of my teenage years – the late 80’s – I can admit it and I love it. Yet, the music is not dated, not at all. It’s got a very modern and new feel to it. See why it’s hard to explain?
I fell in love with the guitar riffs in “Still Alive” and you will not be disappointed with how sexy and dark Brad Arnold’s voice is in this song!
And the lyrics in all the songs are not fluff, they are deep and meaningful, from Love, to Hate, to embracing who you are and taking charge of your dreams! “The Broken” is a call for you to step up and take back your world! This is an anthem that I hope will be embraced. We are told in “Believe It” – Everyone has the right to change, I didn’t say I would” and “Everyone has a right to dream, I’m going to be the one I wanted to be!” “Pieces of Me” is a sweet soft melody that reminds me of when 3 Doors Down first came out, I loved it! Then we have “Living In Your Hell,” where telling someone you are breaking up with them never sound so sweet. I think I would leave with a smile on my face if someone sang this song to me to break up with me. Ok, maybe not, but I’d be dancing a bit !
There are very few CD’s anymore that are enjoyable from start to finish, “Us And The Night” is one of those CDs!
